What is a pink slip?

If your vehicle is five years or older you may need an e-Safety Check (or Pink Slip Inspection), from an Authorised Safety Check Inspection Station (ASCIS). Your registration renewal notice will warn you if your vehicle is due for an e-safety Check.

The Pink Slip is Roadworthy Inspection you need to renew your registration or obtaining new registration in cases where the car has been unregistered for less than 90 days. The Pink Slip is valid for 42 days.

What is a blue slip?

Do you own a light vehicle that is unregistered or originally registered in another state? You'll need to have a Blue Slip Inspection carried out by an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Station (AUVIS).

The Blue Slip is Road Worthy Inspection, Vehicle Identification check and Engine inspection you need for new registration if the car has been unregistered for more than 90 days, or if the car does not have NSW license plates (i.e. - bought interstate and will be used in NSW).

What is a green slip?

The Green Slip is Compulsory Third Person Insurance for the vehicle, renewed together with Rego. The Rego is your car Registration, purchased for 6-12 months at various RMS outlets and renewable after expiration.

CTP Insurance stands for Compulsory Third Party Insurance and is mandatory. In the unfortunate event that you or someone else driving your car is involved in an accident, the third party involved (occupants of the other vehicle, pedestrians etc.) is covered by the CTP on your car. This means that others involved in the accident are able to claim against your CTP insurance and you wont be facing potentially hefty bills.

While many states in Australia consider CTP Insurance to be a part of normal vehicle registration and usually include it in the car registration process, in NSW it is separate from registration and must be obtained before you can register your car. Crossroads Automotives provide Green Slips and can arrange your CTP insurance cover for you. We also undertake e-Safety Checks (Pink Slips) in Central Mangrove.

LPG Safety Inspections

According to Australian Standards, a registered owner of a LPG vehicle must have the tank inspected every 10 years by a qualified LPG examiners. This is to ensure there are no leaks in the fuel line, that there is no damage to the tank and a new pressure valve is fitted. The tank will need to be removed from the vehicle and emptied for full examination. Once completed, a metal plate is attached in a prominent position showing that it the installation complies with the Australian Standard, the date that the installation was commissioned, the state or territory where the installation took place and the identification number of the suitably qualified person responsible for the installation.

If you need Greenslips, an e-Safety Check, Pink Slip Inspection or LPG Safety Inspection in Central Mangrove, Crossroads Automotives have you covered.

You must have your vehicle inspected if:

  • Your registration renewal notice tells you that an inspection is required
  • You want to renew the registration on your vehicle that is more than 5 years old
  • You want to register a light vehicle not currently registered in NSW
  • You want to register a heavy vehicle
